A Rapid Chess Tournament for club members was held on Mondays 3rd, 10th and 17th April at 8 p.m.  25 mins/all moves.  2 rounds per night.  One open section.  Swiss pairing system (accelerated for first round).  Entry fee £2.  Controllers Eugene Donohoe and Ciarán Quinn..  Half point bye was available for any one round provided the controller was warned in advance. News from day 3: 20 players took part in the final round. Again, those who had played previously but couldn't play tonight were given a half-point for round 5 and zero for round 6. The overall result was an emphatic victory for Gerry McElligott. Alan Mc Donagh and Alec Tyrell came joint 2nd, with the latter taking the best U-1600 prize. The moral of the evening's play, provided by the game between Eugene McMorrow and Eugene Donohue : never resign, even when you have a bishop against a queen and rook. Final scores are:-
