| Introduction |
|
|
|
The aim of the club championships
is to provide an opportunity to players to play compeditive |
|
|
|
games in conditions similar to the
leagues. |
|
|
|
|
To
this end silence should be observed in the club room until the last game has
ended. |
|
|
|
Analysis and conversation should be
confined to the bar or room opposite. |
|
|
|
|
|
| Setup,
starting time and clearing up |
|
|
|
|
The controller of each section will
select two players each week to arrive at 7.15 pm. |
|
|
|
These players will bring up a table
and set up sets and clocks, ready for a 7.30 pm start. |
|
|
|
Controllers should start all clocks
at 7.30 pm. |
|
|
|
|
At 8.30 pm controllers will award
defaults to any player who did not show up without notice, |
|
|
|
regardless of when clocks were
actually started. |
|
|
|
|
When finished, players should put
away their own sets quietly. |
|
|
The last two players in each
section to finish should bring the table down after the last game |
|
|
|
in the room has finished. |

Where both players agree, any time
control can be used, as long as 35 or 36 moves are played each |

This is important to
ensure results are with the rating officer for rating before the new season. |
|

| Postponements |
|
|
|
|
|
Games should be played according to
the schedule except in exceptional cicumstances. |

If a player wishes to postpone a
game due to work or other reasons, the player must ask the |
|
|
|
section controller. If the controller agrees, the player must
contact their opponent in time. |
|
|
|
Otherwise they will default their
game. |
|
|
|
|
Only illnesses severe enough to
prevent a person working will be considered. |
|
|
|
If the controller consents to a
postponement the player must agree a new date for the game, |
|
|
|
having consulted their
opponent. This should be the first
available week. |
|
|
|
To facilitate this the schedules
and contact numbers are available on our website. |
|
|
|
They must mark up this new date on
the noticeboard before the end of the round in question. |
|
|
|
Failure to do this will result in a
default. |
|
|
|
|
Any player defaulting this year may
not be allowed to enter next year's club championship. |
|
|
|
Shift workers and others may not be
able to attend on some nights. These
players should try to |
|
|
|
play games in advance if possible
and others should facilitate them. |
|
|
The onus is on each player to
complete all their games, if necessary playing outside the club or on |
|
|
|
different nights. |

| Adjournments |
|
|
|
|
|
When a game is adjourned the
resumption date should be marked up on the schedule |
|
|
|
This should be the first available
week. |

Mark in results on the charts at
the end of each game, before analysis. |

Mark in A A or P P for adjournments or postponements along with
the new date. |
